From the Womb of Being, Doing is Born

‘Should I send that message? Should I make that call? Should I take up that offer or this? Should I….?”

A very common question is “Should I do it?” whatever the action be…

This confusion often leads to asking questions on different social media outlets, such as different Facebook forums, asking family or friends or even colleagues at the workplace, and getting even more confused with the different answers that come in. Because everyone responds from his/her past field of experience and perspective, which may not be relatable to or applicable for you.

What we tend to forget is that when confused, no outward action is the right action, including asking different people about the dilemma! The only right action at that moment is turning within. This is the time to practice the first principle – Be Still and Know I AM God.

For all the answers lie within. The circumstances outside which seem to be confusing are only a projection of what is happening within.

So, the only action required is the inner action of getting into the state of “I AM,” also known as “So Hum” in ancient Sanskrit. Once instilled in the awareness of “I AM,” you can go beyond it, i.e., beyond the “I AM,” by asking yourself – “Who is the one who knows “I Am? That I exist? Who in me is aware of that?”

For “I AM” too is a thought and an awareness. Who is the one having the thought and observing that awareness…who is the One aware of the awareness “I Am”? Who is behind the “I AM?”

That is the Being from which your entire field of human experience arises externally as circumstances or events……and that is the Being which gives birth to your self-identity, moment to moment, all the while defining the external landscape or canvas, within which you physically experience the drama of life.

Since from that Being everything springs, ‘It’ is also the birthplace of all your actions, past, current, and future.

Universes arise from the Being, the “I AM.” Galaxies spring from it and start spinning…

Stories told and untold, in the human frame of experience, arise from It.

Which means all movements or actions arise from “I AM.”

This awareness of “I AM” in you is the unchanging, ever-present, eternal Being. The only Ultimate Reality.

And, from the womb of this Being, doing is born.

Everything supports you whether or not you even notice it, whether or not you think about it or understand it, whether you’re happy or sad, asleep or awake, motivated or unmotivated. It just supports you without asking for anything in return. Right now…notice that you’re not ‘doing’ the breathing, you’re being breathed. You don’t even have to be aware of it, you don’t even have to remember to breathe because that is supported too…

Byron Katie

“You’re Being Breathed…” Let that sink in.

So When In Doubt…

When you are confused about taking action, first still yourself. Go into the womb. Become aware of “I AM.” Then simply be aware. Be One with the presence. There is no better guide than the Being within you to guide your next steps…

Bypass the questioning, doubting mind. Enter into your heart space and connect with your Highest Self. We call it the Highest Self because that is the Self that has the 360 degrees perspective/view of your life. So, what better vantage point for a view of the complete picture and for the actions to arise from?

The doing that is necessary will arise spontaneously, because, the Being in you knows how to move your body. After all, the Being crafted your body. Any action taken from this space is an action of love and wellbeing. This is inspired action.

You will not second guess, not have second thoughts, or doubts. You will know with a certainty that surpasses understanding. And then, even if no action arises….that too is presence and love. ..

“A quiet mind is all you need. All else will happen rightly, once your mind is quiet. As the sun on rising makes the world active, so does self-awareness affect changes in the mind. In the light of calm and steady self-awareness, inner energies wake up and work miracles without effort on your part.”

—Shri nisargadatta Maharaj

So, let the Doing birth naturally and spontaneously…

Just Be. The doing will take care of itself.
